Day 8 Of 10 Days Of Prayer
By: Madeline De Sousa

Matthew 11:28-30 (MESSAGE)
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
Exodus 33:14
The LORD replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
Psalm 23 1
The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. 4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. Psalm 62:1 Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him.
Psalm 34:8
Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.

Thank you Jesus for bringing us into rest. Help us all to make every effort to enter into the rest that you are, and liberate us from all yokes and burdens but yours.

Being yoked with Christ leads to Divine efficiency. My meat and drink is to do the will of my Father. I do nothing except what I see the Father doing. It’s a dance of grace. Teach us Lord to embrace the rest and the simplicity of following you. There we find the Spirit engaging us with his wonderful strength. Overwhelm us with the power of rest. Fulfil your purpose in us and through us as we focus on you.
“By the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me.” (1 Corinthians 15:10)

Father, I thank You for the rest that You provide. I thank You for modeling rest for us as You rested on the seventh day after creating the earth and everything in it and on it. You tell us in Psalm 46:10 to be still, cease striving and rest knowing that You are God. May Your rest, Shalom Peace and grace fall on the City of London today. In Jesus’ Powerful Name, Amen.

Today Father God, I got to rest in this huge (big enough for two) grey leather chair that was overstuffed and had big arms on each side. The back was high and very cushy and just perfect to snuggle my head right into it. All around me people were hustling and busy scurrying past me. Oh it felt so good to relax and rest for a bit. Yes, I took Madelaine’s advice this morning about rest. So even though the parking meter was ticking away the minutes, I just reached my arms out and snuggled in some more, I closed my eyes and imagined myself in your arms Lord Jesus, safe and secure from all alarms …..leaning, leaning…My heartfelt prayer today is that your perfect peace and rest will settle in for us all.
