Day 7 Of 10 Days Of Prayer Sept 2022

Day 7 Of 10 Days Of Prayer Sept 2022
By: Stefan Nichol

Isaiah 45:3
And I will give you treasures hidden in the darkness— secret riches. I will do this so you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, the one who calls you by name.
Psalm 27:13
I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living.
 Matthew 25:35-40
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.
“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

I’m in the east end of London tonight, but, sadly, scenes like this have become all to common in Canada. This seems to be happening everywhere around us, and, worse yet, the problem is growing.

Isaiah 45:3 talks about treasures hidden in darkness, and I believe these people are are an example of what’s meant by secret treasure – what greater joy is there in Heaven than a son or daughter being brought to faith in Jesus Christ? These individuals have become bound up in darkness – trauma, abuse, mental illness, addiction, and perhaps worst of all, the feeling of not being wanted, of having no place to call home.
This is a sad situation, tragic in many ways, but Christ can restore, He can redeem, He can heal and bring forth new life by bringing light into the darkness. Psalm 27:13 says I would have despaired had I not believed this, that I would see the goodness of God in the land of the living. And that’s what I’m believing for for this group – for those who are in many ways the least amongst us. Will you join with me in praying for wholeness, for hope, and for a place to call home, for those who are in such desperate need.

Father God, you have given me some insight to the challenges that these treasured ones have and are going through. When I was seconded to the United Way for three separate years, I saw and helped out with some agencies involved, such as the Coffee House, which provides a simple coffee and snack to those in need. I saw many volunteers give it their all. I do realize that prayer for these ones, who are loved by you,, is so vitally important. Inspire us “Impacters” oh Lord and bless Stephan with wisdom and resources to carry on with his work.

Father God, I pray for these people that are lost and homeless. I pray that they come to know you as their Home and their Rock and in this find both heavenly freedom and earthly freedom. In Jesus’ mighty Name above all Names.

Jesus, thank You for all those who are affected by homelessness, addiction, abuse, mental illness, abandonment, confusion for these are precious souls to You. You are their Creator and their Redeemer. You see each of them and Your heart aches for them. Jesus, You are their answer. I pray that You would provide Divine wisdom for the leaders of this City and for all those in outreach ministry as they make decisions around and work with those who desperately need You and Your help. Thank You for Your love for us all. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
