Day 9 Of 10 Days Of Prayer Sept 2022

Day 9 Of 10 Days Of Prayer
By: Zach Sloane

Daniel prays in response to the king’s demand that someone tell him his dream and interpretation. He prays:

Daniel 2:20-22

“…Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, For wisdom and might are His. And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise And knowledge to those who have understanding. He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, And light dwells with Him.”

God is the God who changes times and seasons.

Ecclesiastes 3:1

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens…”

New wineskins for new wine.

Matthew 9:14-17 (NIV)

“Then John’s disciples came and asked him, “How is it that we and the Pharisees fast often, but your disciples do not fast?” 15 Jesus answered, “How can the guests of the bridegroom mourn while he is with them? The time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; then they will fast. 16 “No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch will pull away from the garment, making the tear worse. 17 Neither do people pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”

Interesting how Jesus’ response to a question about a religious observance or activity, the act of fasting, is where he talks about new wineskins and old.

Could it be that Jesus is trying to say there are new ways of doing things, of functioning, of serving, of even living with him that he is sanctioning.

Sometimes seasons change and we must adapt, sometimes the Lord changes what he is doing… we’ve got to flow, we’ve got to see it, and be willing to be flexible and move with what is being said now.

Isaiah 43:19

“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

We command your purpose to be fully expressed. We thank you Holy Spirit that you are speaking today. That the eyes of the Lord are moving through the earth looking to find people He can strengthen with His purpose. Here am I Lord. Let your Kingdom come and your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Nothing more. Nothing less. Nothing else. In Jesus name.

Father, may we be on the alert to the NEW that You are bringing forth. May we move in wisdom and courage to walk in the NEW and to steward the NEW to impact our own lives, our church community, the neighbourhoods we live in, our workplaces, our families and the City of London and beyond. Thank You for all that You are doing right now, the seen and unseen. In Jesus’Name, Amen.
