Day 8 of 10 Days of Prayer (Jan. 2021)

Day 8 of 10 Days of Prayer, Power of Agreement in Prayer
By: Kelly Michalczyk

There is power in joining together in prayer.

Listen to Jesus’ words in Matthew 18:19-20,

“Again, I give you an eternal truth: If two of you agree to ask God for something in a symphony of prayer, my heavenly Father will do it for you. For wherever two or three come together in honor of my name, I am right there with them!”

In Exodus 17:8-13, we see another great example of people coming together,

While the people of Israel were still at Rephidim, the warriors of Amalek attacked them.  Moses commanded Joshua, “Choose some men to go out and fight the army of Amalek for us. Tomorrow, I will stand at the top of the hill, holding the staff of God in my hand.”

So, Joshua did what Moses had commanded and fought the army of Amalek. Meanwhile, Moses, Aaron, and Hur climbed to the top of a nearby hill. As long as Moses held up the staff in his hand, the Israelites had the advantage. But whenever he dropped his hand, the Amalekites gained the advantage. Moses’ arms soon became so tired he could no longer hold them up. So, Aaron and Hur found a stone for him to sit on. Then they stood on each side of Moses, holding up his hands. So his hands held steady until sunset.  As a result, Joshua overwhelmed the army of Amalek in battle.(emphasis ours)

In Deuteronomy 32:30, the verse talks about one person chasing a thousand, but two people putting ten thousand to flight.

And you see more examples of praying together in the New Testament:

In Acts 1:13 the 120 were gathered together in an upper room praying in one accord when Pentecost came.

We read about Peter being miraculously released from prison when the Church prayed together in Acts 12:1-11.

Paul and Silas were praying, in Acts 16, when an earthquake resulted in a jailer meeting Jesus and their release from prison.

So, we encourage you to join the 7 am prayer meeting, call a friend, join the Friday morning prayer group, comment below with others, get on a group Zoom call and pray together!
