Day 4 of 10 Days of Prayer

Day 4 of 10 Days of Prayer
By: Pastor Karl Thomas

Pray For Leaders

We should always pray for those in authority. Proverbs 21:1 “The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, Like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.” Quite an image. The heart of a leader is in the hand of the Lord. The Lord has great influence over leaders.

This verse gives clear direction and hold wonderful promise.
1 Timothy 2:1-3
“Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Direction:
Pray for everyone with all forms of prayer.
He specifically says to pray for leaders. Some translations say “especially” leaders.

Promise:
We will then live a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.
It is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Saviour.
A climate is prepared for the truth to be shared and many to be saved.

In the time of this direction given to Timothy he would have been asked to pray for some very corrupt and pagan leaders. But his obedience to pray would gain these results.

If we pray for our leaders, we will get these results. Who our leaders are is never the problem. A leader’s heart is in the hand of God. We only have problems when we do not commit ourselves to pray for our leaders.

PRAY FOR CHURCH LEADERS

We need to pray for those who lead the church.

Jesus requested support for himself from his disciples. Matthew 26:38 “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch with me.”  They instead fell asleep. Even Jesus, the Son of God, sought support in His mission.

The Apostle Paul asked for prayer support for His heaven sent mission.

2 Thessalonians 3:1FURTHERMORE, BRETHREN, do pray for us, that the Word of the Lord may speed on (spread rapidly and run its course) and be glorified (extolled) and triumph, even as [it has done] with you,…”

Colossians 4:3 “Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds:…”

Ephesians 6:19 “And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,…”

1 Corinthians 16:9 “For a wide door of opportunity for effectual [service] has opened to me [there, a great and promising one], and [there are] many adversaries.”

1 Corinthians 2:4-5 “And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.”

Follow this progression with me:
Paul asks for prayer so that he a door of utterance would be opened for the revelation he was given.
Then he asked that utterance would be given to him and that he would speak with boldness.
Then he says a wide door has been opened to him.
Then he says his preaching was accompanied by the power of God.

We should follow this same pattern:
Let’s pray open a door of utterance.
Let’s pray utterance may be given with bold proclamation.
Let’s pray for a demonstration of power to accompany the proclamation.

We must pray for a wide door to be opened to us to go through and declare the word the Lord has given us with a demonstration of the power of God!!!

Our prayer will open the door to the prevailing word of God.

PRAYER DIRECTIVES:

  1. Pray for all with all prayer. Let the Lord direct you right now. There may be a specific intercession He desires you to make. A sudden encounter with a situation where God calls you to make the difference by standing in the gap.

Father God, it is exciting to pray for our leaders and know that when we ask you to open a door of utterance wide, wide open, we can know that You will give us that utterance so that we will boldly proclaim and expect a demonstration of power to accompany the words you give us to speak. .We can make a difference in those leaders within our sphere of influence — we might expect that because we have them around us in our daily lives. To realize though, that by the Holy Spirit power we can affect those things in our nation and even worldwide. Today Lord, I join with others to pray for our municipal, provincial and federal leaders; our leaders in the church, especially Pastor Karl and Pastor Cheryl, the elders, the deacons, teachers, and all the worship teams, everyone that volunteers at so many events like our Labour Day Picnic. Bless them all.

We lift up our leaders to you today, Lord. For our government leaders, we ask that you would give them wisdom and a sense of your presence leading and guiding them. We ask that you strengthen Pastors Karl and Cheryl as they lead Impact Church. Give them a great rest this week and bring them back renewed and strong. We also lift up all the pastors in London, that you would give them a renewed vision for this city, and renewed strength for the task you have given them. We thank you for the power we have in prayer!

Lord I pray specifically for a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the deep and intimate knowledge of you for all pastors, leaders and ALL across this city and nation. May visions of who u really are penetrate our spirits, soul and body. May this revelation of who you are bring such passion and change in leaders and the Body of Christ that we would do as you did and this whole nation and the Body of Christ would be completely turned around for your glory. Remove everything that gets in the way of this desire for more of the knowledge of you…may all leaders truly humble themselves and cry out for this spirit of wisdom and revelation in the deep and intimate knowledge of you, in Jesus’ name….

We declare that the wisdom of the Lord will be released to leaders everywhere. We release creative and innovative ideas to business leaders, teachers, leaders in industry, government officials , and especially to all kinds of leaders in the church. We pray for those in mercy ministries to be provisioned for every need. We speak to doors of opportunity to be thrown wide open for the gospel to be preached at home and abroad, that people everywhere will hear and understand the good news. We intercede for training organizations to be abundantly blessed in raising up those that will have a powerful and positive impact in our generation. Bless all our leaders, Lord and may they find their help in You. Amen
