Day 7 of 10 Days Of Prayer 2022

Asking God for Wisdom
By : Cheryl Thomas

Wisdom- knowledge, understanding, insight. The know what to do and
when to do it.

Inundated with information
There is a cacophony of voice many offering no solace or wisdom.
PK began with proverb that speaks about seeing eyes are from the
Lord.

Proverbs 20:12 The hearing ear and the seeing eye, the LORD has made them both.

As you notice hearing ears are from the Lord as well .
We want to hear wisdom from the counsel of the Godhead in all facets of our lives.

Proverbs 2:6 For the Lord gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

What if you need wisdom?

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives
generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
James 1:5

What does God’s Wisdom look like? Or how can I discern if I have
received wisdom?
James 3:17 gives us the criteria to look for when we want to be sure we
are receiving the wisdom of God.

James 3:17, NASB: “But the wisdom from above is first pure, then
peace-loving, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits,
impartial, free of hypocrisy.”

1. Pure- sacred, free from fault
2. It is peaceable- peace loving and bring harmony and contentment
3. It is gentle- suitable and equitable
4. Reasonable- compliant- it will fit your circumstances
5. Full of Mercy- full of kindness and goodwill toward men
6. Bears good fruit- bears good deeds and actions/outcomes
7. Impartial – unwavering, and not dubious or ambiguous
8. Without hypocrisy- undisguised and sincere.

My rephrasing of James 3:17
But the wisdom from a higher place, from God, is most importantly
pure it is without fault or liability, it brings harmony and contentment,
it is always suitable to the situation and equitable. It is compliant and it
manifests as kindness and good will toward man, with accompanying
good deeds. Wisdom from above is not dubious or ambiguous and it is
sincere, undisguised.

As a community let us get God’s wisdom:
In all our relationships
In changing landscape that is COVID 19
In our move to 1200
In dealing with the trades
In dealing with City of London

I loved how you emphasized that all you need to do is ask for wisdom from God and he is not going to hold back from you this amazing gift …. no matter where you find yourself or even if you don’t feel like you are in a place to hear Him …. it is in the asking that opens the door to receive. Let us not hesitate to enter into that loving “asking” relationship with a God who wants to give us everything we need even more than we want it.

Thanks, Pastor Cheryl that was a good word —praying with y’all for God’s wisdom in every area of our lives….you are right there is a treasure trove to dig into from James 3:17 to really understand more about God’s wisdom. Lord, I will listen to your still small voice for your wisdom. in my life. And by the way, I am requesting a “lumberjack-sized” portion of your wisdom to help with the needs in our transition church on Ham Road. Lord, pave the way with your wisdom for all we need regarding the soon-to-be new home for Impact Church in the plaza on Commissioners Rd.
