No one else had the title: “Man after God’s own heart.”

After Jesus no one else is mentioned more in the Scriptures.

66 Chapters outlining his life.

Named 59 x’s in the New Testament

God wants to teach from Davids life.

1 Samuel 13:8-9 “Then he waited seven days, according to the time set by Samuel. But Samuel did not come to Gilgal; and the people were scattered from him. So Saul said, ‘Bring a burnt offering and peace offerings here to me.’ And he offered the burnt offering.”

1 Samuel 13:14 “But now your kingdom must end, for the Lord has sought out a man after his own heart. The Lord has already appointed him to be the leader of his people, because you have not kept the Lord’s command.”

John 3:6  “That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”

Saul was the choice of man.

Saul represented the flesh life.

God Provided for Himself a King.

God Himself sought David out.

God was looking for certain qualities.

God produced these qualities in David.

God presented David to his destiny.  

1 Samuel 16:7 “But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

David (daw-veed‘) :–  beloved, loved one, loving, from the root to boil.

God is looking for lovers.

Acts 13:22-23 “And when He had removed him, He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.’  From this man’s seed, according to the promise, God raised up for Israel a Savior Jesus.”

Psalm 36:7 (NLT) “How precious is your unfailing love, O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of your wings.”

Amos 9:11  “IN THAT DAY will I raise up the TABERNACLE OF DAVID that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will BUILD it as in the days of old.” 

Acts 15:16-17  “After this I WILL RETURN, and will BUILD AGAIN the TABERNACLE OF DAVID, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up. So that the rest of mankind may seek the Lord, Even all the Gentiles who are called by My name, Says the Lord who does all these things.’”       

Hebrews 9:8 (AMP)

“By this the Holy Spirit points out that the way into the [true Holy of] Holies is not yet thrown open as long as the former [the outer portion of the] tabernacle remains a recognized institution and is still standing,” 

David wanted the Ark of God to be in it’s resting place on Mt. Zion.

David knew that God wants to dwell without filters among His people.

David provided ALL PEOPLE unfiltered access to the Glorious presence of God.

Your private worship is preparation for public influence. 

Matthew 6:6  “But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who in the secret  and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.”

1 Samuel 16:18  “Then one of the servants answered and said, ‘Look, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, who is skillful in playing, a mighty man of valor, a man of war, prudent in speech, and a handsome person; and the Lord is with him.’”

1 Samuel 16:14. “But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and a distressing spirit from the Lord troubled him.”
