A Year Of Living Biblically A.J. Jacob, (a Jewish agnostic.)  Sept 9, 2008  Simon & Schuster

The Bible was not given to man so that he could fix his story.
The Bible is His story and how you can find your place in it.
You don’t find 10 steps to a better life in the Bible.
You get to read about a God who through His Son took 10,000 steps to get to you.

1 Samuel 14:19, 22“Now there was no metal worker to be found throughout all the land of Israel, for the Philistines said, Lest the Hebrews make swords or spears…. So on the day of battle neither sword nor spear was found in the hand of any of the men who were with Saul and Jonathan; but Saul and Jonathan his son had them.”

Mark 4:15
“Satan comes immediately and takes away the word.”
Ephesians 6:17
“And take the helmet of salvation and the sword that the Spirit wields, which is the Word of God.”

VoltaireFrench Philosopher“God is a comedian playing to an audience too afraid to laugh.”
“One hundred years from my day there will not be a Bible in the earth except one that is looked upon by an antiquarian curiosity seeker.”    House In Geneva 100 tears later was bought by Bible society and published

4 Basic Forms of Revelation
1.         General Revelation – Nature
2.         Specific Revelation – Jesus
3.         Spirit Revelation – Holy Spirit
4.         Biblical Revelation –   Word

General  John 1:3  “All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.”

Romans 1:20“For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,…”

Specific Hebrews 1:1-3“God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son,  … ; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person…”

Colossians 1:15  NKJV  “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.”
AMP “[Now] He is the exact likeness of the unseen God [the visible representation of the invisible];”

SpiritJohn 16:13“However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.”

John 10:27“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”
Self-authenticating: When God speaks, His word is innately authenticated by the hearer.

Biblical— John 5:39-40 (Message) “You have your heads in your Bibles constantly because you think you’ll find eternal life there. But you miss the forest for the trees. These Scriptures are all about me! And here I am, standing right before you, and you aren’t willing to receive from me the life you say you want.”

1 John 5:13“These thingsI have writtento you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may knowthat you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.”

Jesus is in the Old Testament concealed:
Luke 24:27“And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.”    That’s how He got them back into their destiny.

New Testament Revealed:
John 14:7,9 “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him … He who has seen Me has seen the Father.”

In the Gospels we see Jesus like a photo graph.
Matthew 9:35“Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.”

In Paul’s Letters we see a CT Scan of the inner working of the Gospel of Grace:
2 Corinthians 5:19“…God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.”

Romans 5:17“For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.”

The Word of God is a superfood for your whole life!
Proverbs 4:20-22“My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh.”

2 Corinthians 3:6“…made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.”
The fire to do in the Christian life comes from being soaked in the fuel of the story of what has been done!

2 Corinthians 3:16-19“Veil is taken away … Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.  But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”

John 6:63“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.”

The Bible isn’t mainly about you and what you should be doing. It’s about God and what He has done.
You can think too highly of your interpretations of Scripture, you cannot think too highly of Scripture’s view of itself.

It is a book about Jesus. Get a revelation of how much He loves you and realize who you are in Him.
“Everything in the Bible is helpful, but not everything is helpful to you.”  Paul Ellis

Josh McDowell —“I had to admit that Jesus Christ was more than a carpenter. He was all He claimed to be.
Not only did my research turn me around intellectually, it also answered the three questions that started me on my quest for happiness and meaning.Who am I? Why am I here? Where am I going?

Revelation 1:6-7“To Him wholoved usand washed usfrom our sins in His own blood, and hasmade uskings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.”
