#143 Blessings of the Father

Acts2:33  “Being therefore lifted high by and to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promised [blessing which is the] Holy Spirit, He has made this outpouring which you yourselves both see and hear.”

The Holy Spirit is the blessing of the Father.  He poured out His Spirit upon us so that we can be supernaturally advantaged.

Luke 3:22 “And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, ‘You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.’”

Genesis 12:1-3 “I will bless you…and make your name famous and distinguished, and you will be a blessing…”

Galatians 3:6-9, 13-14 “…those who are people of faith are blessed…happy and favored by God with …Abraham.”

No one can effectively function in this life without the blessing.
BLESSED:– (barak) to endue with power for success, prosperity, fruitfulness and longevity. To empower to prosper.

The Blessing Must Be Appropriated:
1. It Can Be Neglected   2. It Comes By Revelation    3. It Flows Through Faith

1. It Can Be Neglected
Genesis 25:33-34 “So he swore to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob. And Jacob gave Esau bread and stew of lentils; then he ate and drank, arose, and went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright.”

2. It Comes By Revelation
Ephesians 1:18 “eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,…”

3. It Flows Through Faith
Galatians 3:9  “So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham.”

Genesis 27:24-38 “Come near now and kiss me, my son.” … and blessed him and said: …may God give you … plenty of grain and wine.”

Genesis 27:34 “When Esau heard the words of his father, he cried with an exceedingly great and bitter cry, and said to his father, ‘Bless me—me also, O my father!’”

He wasn’t upset because Jacob took the stuff … The Blessing Of The Firstborn was gone!!!
Jesus understood and demonstrated the power of blessing.
Mark 10:13-16 “Then they brought little children to Him, that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who brought them. 14 But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. 15 Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.” 16 And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them.”

“…in His arms and [fervently invoked a] blessing, placing His hands upon them.” (AMP)

5 Essential Elements Of Blessing:

1. Meaningful Touch
“Come near and kiss me,” vs.26
“He took them in His arms…” vs.16
Touch is the foundation for blessing A point of contact must be made to transfer a tangible blessing.

2. Spoken Message
“…and blessed him and said:” vs. 27          “…[ fervently invoked a] blessing,…” vs.16
Proverbs 18-21 “Death and life are in the power of the tongue,…” WORD!

3. High Value
“…my son Is like the smell of a field…” vs.27
“Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.” vs.14
Go BIG!!! No fear of going too far. We are to die for!!!

4. Special Future
“…nations bow down to you.” vs.29
“…belongs kingdom of God.” vs.14
“… do even greater things than these,…”   John 14:12    Proclaims preferred future.

5. Active Commitment
The God Part — “[I will] not, I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down ( relax My hold on you)! Assuredly not!”  Hebrews 13:5

Our Part — “…do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”  Hebrews 6:12

“My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person, he believed in me.”
