Day 1 of 10 Days of Prayer

Day 1 of 10 Days of Prayer
By: Pastor D. Karl Thomas

Happy New Year!!

Welcome to 10 Days Of Prayer.

What a great way to enter into 2018. It will be our best year yet.

Going to start the year with a series of sermons titled “ASK!. “ It’s time to ask big things of the Father in Jesus Name!

Hope you entered the New Year with this prayer that Jesus gave us:

Matthew 6:9-13
Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us today the food we need, and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

The prayer that we call The Lord’s Prayer begins with a simple phrase: “Our Father in Heaven.” It is hard for us to appreciate how significant and radical a statement like that was to the average mindset in Jesus’ day.

You see, the religious people of that time had such a deep reverence and awe of God that they would not even utter His name. So when Jesus said, “Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.” (Matthew 6:9), that would have been thought of as blasphemous.

The Israelites could not just go into God’s presence and have unlimited access to Him. They could not know Him in an intimate and personal way as is possible now. But after Jesus rose again and was met by Mary Magdalene in the Garden of Gethsemane, He said, “Go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God’ ” (John 20:17).

Jesus has opened a new way for us to approach God, and now we can pray to God as our Father.

John 16:24-25 NLT
“At that time you won’t need to ask me for anything. I tell you the truth, you will ask the Father directly, and he will grant your request because you use my name. You haven’t done this before. Ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy.”

Come on!!! It’s time to ask big and live out of our Fathers abundant provision for us.

My Dad began every Prayer with this phrase: “Our gracious loving Heavenly Father …” It is a phrase that has stayed with me. I’m grateful for the revelation that my earthly father gave me of my Heavenly Father. We all need a clear revelation of ABBA Father.

Thanks for joining with us. Please be sure and leave a comment. Let us know that you are joining with our prayer time.

I ask that all those who call Impact Church home would be widely and richly blessed in 2018 and all the sick would be healed completely in Jesus name.

Terry and I have just prayed over the directives and as we did, Holy Spirit brought to our hearts specific people to pray for as well. We just love being able to declare new jobs, new hope, new strength and new dreams to our Impact family. As we all pray for a year of acceleration and growth, we also pray that we will listen and prepare our hearts for that which our gracious and loving Father will ask us to partner with in the year 2018. It is an exciting time for Impact Church!.

Amen! I agree with this prayer. As we were singing the song yesterday about all the Father will do to get to us, I was impressed with David’s experience when he ASKED, and his description of God’s response. I intend to keep that response in mind as we ASK these things of Him. We aren’t told how long that response took, or what exactly happened to bring the victory…not in Psalm 18, anyway…but we know David didn’t faint because he knew his Father. Praying with great expectation in 2018!

Father, We ASK, Let your name be lifted up. Be seen and known for who you really are. Let the increase of your government know no end, and let each of us experience “on earth as it is in heaven” – in our bodies, relationships, finances, and in all our partnerships and endeavours to see the nations discipled. In Jesus name, We ASK.
