By: Pastor Karl Thomas

2 Corinthians 1:20 NIV
“For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so  through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God”

Ephesians 3:20-21
“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Dream / Imagine), according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”

Genesis 37:5  “Now Joseph had a dream, and he told it to his brothers; and they hated him even more.”
You must have a dream!

Albert Einstien “Imagination is More important than knowledge.”
Imagination doesnʼt look for evidence it looks for opportunity.
What God is calling you to do does not even exist yet. Donʼt look for affirmation … no one gets it.
People with imagination get excited over nothing!!!

What Is Your Dream?
Distinguishes You     Releases Your Potential     Energizes You   Attitude Aligns         Motivates You

Genesis 37:18-19
“Now when they saw him afar off, even before he came near them, they conspired against him to kill him. Then they said to one another, ‘Look, this dreamer is coming!ʼ”
Dream Killers Will Come!  You Must Overcome Them!

2 Basic Categories Of Killers:      1. External Obstacles  2. Internal Conflict

External Obstacles
A. The devil
John 10:10 “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
Genesis 3:1 “… Did God actually say, …” Enemy Attacks Promise!

Roman mythology god of the underworld “dis”:– apart, asunder, negative or reversing force.
Dis ease   Dis comfort Dis qualify  Dis integrate  Dis appointed Dis courage   Dis inherit   Dis ability
Dis advantaged   Dis respect

B. Negative People
1 Samuel 17:28-29 “Why did you come down here? And with whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your pride and the insolence of your heart, for you have come down to see the battle.”And David said, “What have I done now? Is there not a cause?
Dabar:— to speak, promise (Rhema)

C. Circumstances
Genesis 26:1, 12  “There was a famine in the land, … Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the Lord blessed him.”
Matthew 14:28-29 “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”  So He said, “Come.” … he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”

Internal Conflict
Colossians 3:2 “Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.”
Proverbs 4:23  “Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.”

A. Fear
Psalm 56:3 “But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you.”
Mark Twain Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear.

B. Unbelief
Hebrews 3:18-19  “And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey? So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.”

C. Past
Isaiah 43:18-19 “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!”
Philippians 3:13 “But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,…”

D. Frustration
Matthew 11:1-6  “‘Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?ʼ And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.”
Dreams demand joyful perseverance in the face of seeming contradiction.

E. Pride / Insecurity
Genesis 11:4 “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.”
1 Peter 5;5-6  “Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for ‘God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.ʼ Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time …”

F. Unchecked Appetite (NOW)
Genesis 25-29-34  “‘Please feed me with that same red stew, for I am weary.ʼ … So he swore to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob.”
Realizing your dream is determined by your ability to mange your appetite.

The target of all opposition to your dreams is to steal your PASSION.
Revelation 2-3-4
“… persevered, have patience, and have labored for My nameʼs sake and have not become weary. Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left (send away, forsake abandon) your first love.”

During worship this morning as we were singing about His promises being “Yes, and amen” the Lord was speaking into my heart about His heart for us….. Never leaving, not forsaking us, being with us always, … And then He said there are what looks like impossible obstacles, but you have not correctly perceived what it is!

These are huge doors of opportunity, and I, the God of the open door, have already oiled the hinges of these doors, and they are simply waiting for you to push against them. Go ahead and push. Believe that I am for you, and with you. Know that there is no door that can oppose the favour I have put on you.

I believe this was a word for the church, but can also be appropriated individually. I should have prophesied this, however, I failed to respond in time. My apologies…

This sermon was like most of your sermons, like a smorgasbord! It’s all so good but I can’t take it all on one plate! But, I can go back for more on mp3! I think I’m starting to embrace technology more closely. Thanks for the efforts you and the team put in to serve others. Gotta make some adjustments in my relationships! Thanks for the help. Thank you Jesus!
